Visa and ETA Information
To check if you need a UK Visa to travel to the conference please visit the UK government website : www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa. For academic conferences, the visa most ATLAS members would require is a Standard Visitor visa www.gov.uk/standard-visitor.
From 25 February 2026 if you have an EU, USA, Canadian or Australian passport you will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to visit the UK. It costs £16 to apply online and will last for 2 years. To find out more information and how to apply for an ETA visit the UK government website: www.gov.uk/eta.

Flights
Flying into Glasgow Airport (GLA) is the most convenient option for reaching the city.
Glasgow Airport (GLA) is 8 miles from the city centre and serves domestic and international flights, with connections from major cities worldwide. Glasgow airport is well-connected to the city center by bus (500 Airport Express), which runs 24 hours a day, or taxi/uber. The journey takes approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs around £20-£30 by taxi.
Edinburgh airport (EDI) is 40 miles from Glasgow and there are direct flights to/from Geneva among many other domestic and international destinations. The Citylink AIR bus provides a direct link from Edinburgh airport to Glasgow city centre, which takes around 45 minutes.
Trains
Glasgow is well-connected to other cities in the UK by train. There is a direct train from London Euston which takes 4.5 hours via the West Coast Main Line. From Euston, the Eurostar is accessbile via a 10-minute walk or one tube stop. The Caledonian sleeper train also offers an overnight travel option between London and Glasgow.
Travel within Glasgow
Glasgow is connected with a good public transportation network.
The city's subway system provides efficient travel around the central areas. The closest stop to the university and main conference venue is Hillhead, which is around 15 minutes from city centre stops.
Buses and overground trains offer additional coverage throughout the city and surrounding areas.
Taxis are readily available and can be hailed on the street or booked in advance.
For those wishing to explore further afield or venture into the scenic Scottish countryside, car rental services are easily accessible, with several rental companies operating in the city.
